Leon Graveland started his job as a data engineer at Takeaway in 2021. ‘There are a lot of technical challenges in my work. During my job hunt, I had been looking above all for a new job where I would be working with peers who can do the same things as me and who are interested in the technology behind data. That’s what I found at Takeaway.’
Takeaway is known for being one of the world’s largest meal delivery services. Part of Leon’s everyday work here involves developing smart, data-driven solutions. ‘Takeaway is a digital company. Working here enables me to work with technology at a very advanced level. I also like that I get to contribute to real-life business applications. It’s not like I’m just putting the infrastructure in place and then that’s it. I am also helping to keep our customers happy.’ Takeaway is the second job in Leon’s career. Before that, he worked in a similar position at EY. He hopes to expand his knowledge in a few specific areas during his time at Takeaway. ‘I am going to learn a lot at Takeaway about best practices when it comes to big data.’ Leon had already been approached by Visser & Van Baars in the past, but it wasn’t the right moment for him yet. ‘I asked them to get back to me in half a year. And that’s what they did. I liked that they gave me the time and space that I needed.’
